How do I write a song?
The first thing I look for is an idea a catchy phrase. Example; On The Other Hand; I Want My Good By Back; I Stole Her Heart Honestly; I Feel The Chill Of An Early Fall…etc Then I Summarize the thought into a 3 minute move in my mind and work to write a lyric that will take it from start to finish so the listener can live or relate to the same experience I write the lyric with the music structure in mind example;
A=Verse
B=Chorus
C=Bridge
D=Tag end of chorus
let the song dictate the form
Example;
A,B,A,B,C,B,D
A,A,B,A,B,B
B,A,B,A,C,D,
I write the same things about love, Heart brake…etc in a new fresh way looking for words and phrasing that will pull the listener into my thought or movie that the fun of it! There is no right or wrong ways to write a song the main thing is be relatable let it flow and have fun! Look at your lyric from the outside in make sure the listener can understand what your expressing why are they in love? or why they braking up?…etc. Like everything in life the more you do it the better you get!
